Announcing Prism Drums

We’re pleased to announce the release of Prism: Drums, our new audio plugin for converting drum recordings into editable MIDI.
A recorded drum part can have exactly the feel you want, while still needing a few changes to fit your production. Perhaps you want a different kit, a stronger kick, or a variation on a favorite loop. Prism: Drums gives you a way to take that performance into MIDI and keep working with it.
Turn recorded grooves into editable MIDI
Prism: Drums uses our proprietary machine-learning engine to recognize nine drum components: kick, snare, closed hi-hat, open hi-hat, crash, ride, high tom, mid tom, and low tom. It captures timing and dynamics, including the subtle variations that give a performance its character.
Once converted, the MIDI opens up new possibilities. Change a fill to suit an arrangement, adjust individual hits, or try the groove with another drum instrument. You can use the original performance as the starting point for a part that fits your track.
Replace or layer drum sounds
Prism: Drums also lets you use a recording to drive a drum sampler. Add weight beneath a kick, reinforce a snare, or explore a different kit while retaining the recorded groove as your reference.
Layering can be especially useful when you like the performance but want more control over its sound. Blend sampled drums with the original recording and choose how much of each belongs in the mix.
Review the conversion inside the plugin
The built-in MIDI editor lets you inspect and refine the conversion, while the included drum sampler provides a convenient way to audition the results. Adjust the conversion settings and hear what changes before moving the MIDI into your DAW.
When you’re ready, drag and drop the MIDI into your project and use your preferred drum instrument.
Prism: Drums supports VST3, AU, and AAX on Windows and macOS. Use ARA integration in compatible hosts, or work with it as a standard insert plugin.
All audio processing happens locally on your computer. Your recordings stay on your machine, and there are no limits on the number of tracks you can convert.
Hear the results
Visit the product page to compare original drum recordings with audio rendered from unedited Prism: Drums MIDI conversions. The examples cover different playing styles, giving you a chance to hear how the conversion handles ghost notes, rapid kicks, and changing dynamics.
Prism: Drums is designed primarily for acoustic drums. Clean recordings give the best results; separated drum stems can also work well, though separation artifacts may affect detection.
